The Campaign to Protect Rural England

CPRE are campaigning for three of the most unsightly lines of pylons in the country to be put underground – and to stop more pylons being erected in some of our most beautiful landscapes. In a new national policy statement the Government recently announced it wants to add at least 12 more lines of overhead pylons across 170 miles of England and Wales. Support the CPRE campaign by submitting the online letter here to the Department of Energy and Climate Change in response to the consultation on the new national policy statement.

National Policy Statements
The consultation on the draft energy National Policy Statements closes on Monday 22nd February 2010.
Subject to the consultation and Parliamentary scrutiny, the Government intends to finalise and formally approve the energy National Policy Statements in 2010.
These National Policy Statements would then be used by the Infrastructure Planning Commission when it makes decisions on applications for development consent for nationally significant energy infrastructure projects such as the proposed Hinkley Point C Connection.
